Dear parents:

We started our first phonics class this week. I introduced the sound of “a” and the related words such as ambulance, apple, astronaut, alphabet, and alligator.

For math class, I introduced the color blue and green. We also went through objects that are blue like birds, water, blueberries, the sky; and so on…we crossed out the object that was not yellow, which was a dog.

For motor skills class this week, we did a few exercises to enhance their large and small muscles. We played ball, tossing games, ring tossing games, and musical chairs. They all had great fun.

For Arts and Crafts, we made “Creep Jellyfish”. Each one of them got a face in the shape of a jellyfish. Then, they had to glue its color tissue paper as their legs. Lastly, they drew its eyes and nose.

This Friday, the kids will bring home their monthly reports home. If you have any feedback, feel free to call or write us back.

Yesterday was Mia’s birthday. She turned 3. She was so happy that everyone celebrated her birthday at school. I’ve also attached one of the cutest pictures to share with you.

Dear parents:

For math class, I introduced the color yellow. We also went through objects that are yellow like chicks, lemons, the sun, corn, and rubber ducks. Then, we crossed out the objects that were not yellow such as peas.

For social studies, we introduced our family members and things families like to do together such as riding bikes, shopping, cooking……and so on. We also learned a finger play song about family. This song goes like this: This is mama kind and dear, this is Papa standing here…. ……this is sister….brother…..this is baby cute and
small. This is the family one and all.

For motor skills class this week, we did some thing that was fun. Each one of them got a piece of paper with pictures with circles on them such as a picture of a train. They had to cover each circle with one sticker. This exercise isn’t only enhancing their hand to eye
coordination; it also helps them to stay focused.

For Arts and Crafts, we made name pictures. Each kid got a paper with their name stamped on it. Then, they had to glue tiny decorations on the background one by one.

This week we read “Down by the Bay” and “Fe
ast for Ten” for story time.

Individual comments:

Tanya has finally recovered once again with a big smile. She is full of energy now. But, her
appetite isn’t as it used to be.

Henry is more independent than he used to be. He does his work on his own and almost never asks for help. He also likes to help
the other girls when they needed help.

Emelia’s concept of logic is excellent. We made a cross with color blocks. She was able to follow the directions step by step
without getting distracted by the other kids.

Dora was
inpatient while we were making name pictures. She only glued 4 little pieces in 30 minutes. I made her glue more pieces on when the other kids went on break. I will continue working with Dora in this area.

Sherri is so cuddly and happy. She loves to give free hugs and kisses to teachers.

Ellie takes pride in the work that she does. She chooses colors with good combinations and it shows. She has a wild imagination.

Aida and Ellie are both very compatible. They both give their best effort on the task at hand no matter if it’s in coloring or art projects. Aida sometimes has trouble falling asleep during nap time.

Chloe has very good hand to eye coordination skills. She was the first one to finish our sticker picture on Wednesday for motor skills class. She had an amazing week. Nowadays, she never cries in the morning. She always greets me when I say “Hi” or “Good morning” in the morning. Moreover, she is very vocal. She repeats what you tell her all the time. Sometimes she even goes on with her own stories. Finally, she eats much faster than last week (roughly 40 to 50 minutes during lunch). I know there is still room for improvement in the future. I’m so happy that she is adjusting to school so well.

Dear parents:

Tuesday, we went to the Taipei Fine Art Museum for our first field trip of 2009. The exhibition is titled: “Pixar 20 Years of Animation”. The kids were interested to find out about the cartoon characters that they are familiar with, such as in the movie Cars, Toy Story, Wall-E, etc. After the show, we had lunch together in the basement with everyone. We all had great fun.

For math class, I introduced the color red. We also went through objects that are red like tomatoes, cherries, strawberries, apples, hearts, and stop signs…we crossed out the object that is not red.

For social studies, we began the first unit: “My School and Friends.” First, we went through the class rules. The kids learned some of the objects in the classroom and some in the playground.

For motor skills class this week, we practiced how to use scissors properly by cutting straight lines and curvy lines. We also played finding the colored balls on Thursday afternoon to exercise their small muscles by picking up the balls that were on the floor.

This week we read “I love Pre-K “and “ABC Drive” for story time.

Individual comments:

Dora likes to help other kids before she does her things. I guess she probably thinks by helping others, it makes her feel older. She is working on her small muscle development by using scissors.

Tanya had a great weekend; I felt that she has been more mature over the last few weeks. She still loves to tattle tell on the others and loves to eat just like the “Cookie Monster”.

Sherri is small but very mature. She never asks for assistance unless she really needs it. Sometimes when I ask her questions, she might shout out the answers so spontaneously. She shocked me a few times this week

Ellie is more active in class compared with a few months ago. I’m kind of glad that Joyce’s class moved upstairs. Now, Ellie only speaks English and also tries to be more independent in class.

Daniel improved so much on classroom manners. He doesn’t get up and wander around like he used to do. He already picked up many simple phrases. I’m so proud of him.

Henry is a sweet heart; he is always so happy when he comes to school. I also encouraged him to try new things and rewarded him with stars.

Emelia likes to participate in class when we have open discussions. Nowadays, she speaks some English with some Chinese. She is definitely a quick learner.

Aida is one of the new students that have adapted well. She is a friendly and co-operative student. Everyone loves her.

Chloe improved a lot on her separation anxiety this week. She loves to sing and dance in the morning. She is able to eat on her own during meals and take naps.

Hurrary for Pre-k

Dear parents:

I’m Teacher Angel. This is my 4th year teaching at Treehouse. I hope that you had a great summer vacation last week. Sorry, I had to miss out the first two weeks of this month. My family and I have been busy with my son’s baptism in Greece, during our vacation. I have attached a few pictures to give you some ideas. Hopefully you will enjoy them.

I will be teaching “The Beluga Class” during the next school year. Currently, we have 10 students in this class; 6 of them are new. This week is the warm up week, so some kids are working on adjusting to their new environment (Chloe, Daniel, Ryan, and Miya). Sherri, Dora, Henry, Tanya, Aida, and Ellie were overwhelming at the beginning of the new semester. We sang nursery songs, played with play dough, made arts and crafts (sponge boats and Father’s Day cards) …and did many more fun activities throughout this week.

All staff members and I are looking forward to bringing you and your children more fun and educational activities during this new school year. If you ever have any concerns or opinions, we’d love to get any feedback from you.
