May 22nd

Hello Everyone,

This week we had another fun week in the Panda class. On Monday morning we did review work in math class. Over the past few weeks we've been learning about counting by 2's, 5's and 10's; as well as grouping numbers by 10's. In the afternoon we started learning about begining blend sounds ( pr-, br-, cr-, tr-) The kids have done an excellent job learning long and short phonics sounds and they have picked up the new material just as fast. They are all doing a fantastic job in phonics class! On Tuesday we learned about the parts of a plant in science class. On Wednesday we read the story "Owl" in reading class, and also discussed common words that are often read and/or written. As an extra activity we tried writing sentences. On Thursday we did more math and reading. And finally on Friday we painted a dragon boat for art class.

Aston is very creative. He's always eager to paint!

Devon did very well in phonics class this week. He's picked up the new phonic sounds very quickly and he's also eager to answer questions in class.

Albert has been doing well with his class work, but he's been a little bossy with the other kids in class. I hope he can try to speak nicer to his classmates.

Kyle had another great week. He was especially eager to read the new story in reading class.

Hank has been improving each week. He's really becoming a great reader!

Serena was very helpful this week in class. She also did very well with her classwork.

Bonnie made a beautiful dragon boat in art class on Friday. She was very skilled at mixing the paint and designing a nice pattern on the boat.

Claire has adjusted very well to being back in class. I was afraid she would have a little trouble in reading and math, but luckily she picked up where she left off.

Irene does very well on all her work. One area I hope to see her improve on however is her sentence writing. I know she could do very well if she put a little effort into it.

Benson is doing great! He continues to talk more and has also been more active in class.

Phil has been very helpful recently in class, especially getting water for the other students. He's been talking more as well...

Eason has a very creative mind. We've been writing sentences in class and he's been able to come up with some very interesting sentences on his own.

* Next week I will be going on vacation so Teacher Megan will be teaching the Panda class while I'm away. I'll be back on the following Monday ( June 2nd )

Hi!

This week we went back to the photo studio on Monday for another photo session. Just like last time, the kids all looked very nice dressed up in their suits and dresses. On Tuesday we went to the Yukult factory in Taoyaun for an informative tour of one of the most famous yogurt companies in the world. We watched a short movie, and then were given a tour of the production area where we got a first hand look at how the drinks are made and packaged. On Wednesday we started learning about ordinal numbers ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc...) in math class. In the afternoon we studied long phonic sounds in phonic class. On Thursday we continued to study ordinal numbers in math class, and in the afternoon we read the new story "Toad" in reading class.

Finally on Friday we had show and tell in the morning. In the afternoon we worked on an art project based on the story book "Elmer".

Devon was very popular at the photo studio again. ALL the make up women at the photo studio love him!

Albert is falling behind again in math class. I really hope he can be at school before 10 am so he won't miss math class.

Aston has been very good this week. Not only has he been well behaved, he's also been paying attention more as well.

Hank picked up this weeks math lesson very quickly. Way to go, Hank!

Kyle has been doing very good in reading class. He makes steady improvements each week and he's always interested in reading during his free time in class.

Bonnie made a very nice elephant in art class in Friday.

Serena is doing very good in reading and math class. She learned this weeks math lesson very quickly and has especially enjoyed each new story we read in class.

Irene did very good this week. I'm always at a loss of words each week when I'm writing about Irene. She's always well behaved, she always does an excellent job on her work, and she's always improving. Good job, Irene!

Phil has been talking more in class. He's really showing a lot of improvements!

Benson was very good this week.

Eason was feeling a little sick on Friday. I hope he starts feeling better soon.

And finally I'd like to welcome back Claire. All the kids have been very excited to have her back to class!

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another weekly segment of the Panda Class blog. This week we went to the park on Monday for PE class. In the afternoon we we worked on blended phonic sounds. On Tuesday we did reading in the morning; focusing on last weeks story " You Can't Smell a Flower With Your Ear". As a follow-up to the story we talked about body parts and what they are used for
( ears: hearing, eyes: seeing , nose: smelling, etc...) In the afternoon we practiced writing sentences.
On Wednesday we started learning about odd and even numbers. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly the kids picked it up. On Thursday we continued learning about odd and even numbers in math, and in the afternoon we worked on a secret project that all mom's will find out about on Sunday ( I hope ) .
On Friday we had Show and Tell in the morning. After Show and Tell we learned about putting words into alphabetical order. Although it was a little challenging, the majority of the students we're able to understand the basic concepts and we'll be working on it more in the future.

Finally I'd like to wish all the mothers a Happy Mother's Day!
