April 30th
Hi Everyone,
This week has gone by pretty fast. We've had a busy week. On Monday we started talking about number order in math class ( example: 16 comes before 17 and 50 comes after 49 ) we also reviewed counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's. In the afternoon we studied Tops. We're still discussing pets and other animals, but this week we began studying the sentences " Is it a ____? Yes, it is. No, it isn't. " As well as " Do you have a ____?" " Yes, I do." "No, I don't".
On Tuesday we had a lot of fun going to the movie theater to watch the movie " Madagascar 2". In the afternoon we practiced reading, and reviewed phonics.
On Wednesday we did more of the same in math class, and in the afternoon we reviewed long vowel sounds in phonics class. We also started reading the story " You Can't Smell a Flower with Your Ear" a very informative story about the five senses ( hearing, sight, smell, touch, and taste).
On Thursday most of the kids had Chinese class in the morning so Kyle, Hank, Aston and myself played Kyles game he brought to school for a short while and then reviewed numbers and counting from 1-100.
Kyle is doing very well! He's learned counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's very quickly and really seems to enjoy counting.
Aston is doing very well in class, however he's been behaving badly during nap time. He's been in trouble for three days now for running around the classroom when he should have been sleeping instead. I hope he can try to sleep better next week.
Devon has been very slow eating lunch this week. It's taken him almost an hour each day this week to finish eating.
Hank is doing great! He's adjusted very well to class and is constantly making improvements. Way to go, Hank!
Albert had fun watching the movie on Tuesday. He had a great time talking about it with Aston and Devon.
I hope Bonnie is feeling better. We missed he on Tuesday when we went to the movies.
Serena is doing an excellent job in math class!
Irene has been very helpful in class this week. She's been doing a great job helping the other kids when they need help.
Phil has been talking a lot more in class. It's good to see him more confident and willing to talk during class.
Benson is making a lot of improvements in both his reading and phonics.
Eason has been behaving much better. He's been more aware of his behavior and has worked harder to behave in class.

April 24
Hello Everyone,
Another week has passed and here we are again for the another weekly Panda class blog post. This week we learned how to count by twos, fives, and tens in math class. So far all the kids have done a wonderful job.
On Tuesday Bonnie, Serena, and Devon went to the photo studio for their graduation photos. Everyone looked very nice in their suits and dresses. The kids had a great time, and they were all very well behaved.
In reading class we read Seven Sillies and Shrinking Mouse. In ESL class we read Peace at Last and worked on writing sentences with capitol letters at the beginning of each sentence and a period a the end.
On Friday we went to the park for PE class. The weather has been rainy and/or overcast for most of the week so it was nice to get a chance to go outside and play.
Devon looked very handsome in his suit on Tuesday. All the women at the photo studio thought he was very cute, they couldn't stop talking to him. He was a true ladies man!
Serena had a little accident at the park on Friday. Her and Frank were both running without looking and ran into each other. She was a little sad for a while but settled down the afternoon and went back to her happy way.
Bonnie had fun at the park on Friday. She always loves getting a chance to run and play.
Aston did very well in math class this week. He's paying attention much more and it really shows. He's doing well !!!
Kyle and Hank have been playing a lot recently. It's good to see the two of them get along so well!
Albert learned counting by 2's, 5's and 10's very quickly this week. He's really trying hard in class. Way to go, Albert!
Benson is doing great in reading class. He's making improvements each week.
Irene did very well this week. I gave her a more difficult book to read this weekend. I hope she likes it.
Phil has been much more talkative recently. He's also less shy in class, and more willing to volunteer to read or answer questions as well.
Eason has been behaving much better in class. He's trying very hard to act nicely. I'm proud to see him try do hard.

March 17th
Hello Everyone,
This week was a busy but fun week for the Panda class. On Monday morning we celebrated Easter by making bunny ears, and in the afternoon we colored Easter eggs. On Tuesday we went to the Taipei Public Library. The kids love reading and I think they especially enjoyed the opportunity to see a wider variety of story books than we have in the classroom. We had intended to go to Daan park afterward for an Easter egg hunt unfortunately the weather was not very cooperative so we had to move the egg hunt inside Tree House.
On Wednesday, with Easter behind us, we continued working on the class calendar we've been working on for the past week. We also took advantage of the nice weather and went to the park for PE class. In math class we finished learning about time and the months of the year. In phonics we started learning about long E ( tea, tree, three, sea, see, etc...)
On Thursday morning we ! took the chapter test for time, days of the week, and months of the year. In the afternoon we read Seven Sillies and did the accompanying book work in the reading workbook. In the second part of the afternoon we did Tops. This week we learned the sentence pattern "Is it a dog!" Yes, it is. No, it isn't.
And finally, to close out the week, on Friday we did ESL and more phonics.
Kyle has put a lot of effort into class recently and his hard work is really beginning to show!
Aston is doing great! He's really matured over the past few weeks. He's much more focused and determined to try harder in class.
Devon is making improvements with his reading. He's been volunteering to read more in class and is trying very hard to practice his reading.
Hank was great this week. He's always well prepared and eager to learn. Way to go, Hank!
Albert and Serena had a lot of fun at the library on Tuesday. All the kids had an opportunity to pick out a book to read, and the two of them enjoyed showing off their reading skills.
Bonnie had fun making bunny ears for Easter.
I'd like to thank Phil's mom and Benson's parents for coming in this week to meet with me. They're both doing an excellent job!
Irene has been very fast finishing her book work in class. ( Maybe a little too fast )She usually finishes before all the other students.
Eason did good this week. He's been attentive and hard at work.

April10th
Hey Everyone,
I'd like to thank all the parents that took timeout of their busy schedules who were able to come and meet with me. I'm very proud of all the students; they have all done a fantastic job!
This week we learned about days of the week and months of the year in Math class. As a side project we've all been working on a class calendar with art work for each month d, done by all the students, that should be done soon.
In Phonics class we finally finished working on long O. We also learned about common words that occur frequently when the students read.
The weather has been unpredictable this week, so we haven't been able to go to the park for PE class. Hopefully next week...
In Reading class we started book 5; the final book of the reading series. This weeks story was Silly Ducks.
And finally in Art class we've been working on our Panda Class calendar.
Once again, I'd like to thank everyone for making it a successful parent/teacher conference week!

April 3rd
Hi everyone,
We had a fun time this week in the Panda class. In Math class we talked about time, and the length of time it takes to do things ( 1 minute to wash hands, one hour to play at the park, 1 day to go to school ) In Science class we discussed the 5 senses ( site, touch, smell, hearing, and smell ). In reading class we're still re-reading stories from the past few months. In Phonics we studied more long vowel sounds, with an emphasis on review of previous weeks sounds as well. And finally in Art class we made a painting.
Just a reminder that next week will be parent/teacher conferences. I look forward to seeing all of you! Have a nice weekend!
