This week we read " The Knee High Man" in reading class. In addition to the story, we also learned about long U and long I. In Tops we're doing prepositions with rooms and furniture. ( The sink is next to the stove in the kitchen.) In math class started we learned about graphs. In art class we made snakes, and finally on Tuesday we went to the Children's Art Museum.

Aston's been very slow eating lunch recently.

Albert had a fun time at the park on Wednesday.

Kyle is doing very well in reading class.

Devon is slowly improving his reading skills.

Bonnie had fun at the Children's Art Museum.

Serena is doing great in reading!

Eason has been naughty this week. He's had a very hard time paying attention and following directions.

Irene makes tremendous improvements each week. She's become very good at speaking English.

Benson has been talking more this week. Good job, Benson!

Hi All,
Welcome back to the Panda blog. It's been a busy busy week....In math class we've been learning about shapes and symmetry. In reading we read the story "Ducks". In phonics we continued studying the long i sound ( ice cream, ice, tie, pie, etc..) . In Tops we began unit 5, where we're learning about objects in a house ( chair, bed, bedroom, sink, etc...) This will be followed up next week learning about prepositions. In science we read about the solar system and planets. On a funny side note; many of the kids were surprised to learn that the sun does not rise out of the ocean each day....but rather the earth circles the sun.

Albert has done well. He's made a lot of progress in math class!

Aston has also done much better in math class recently. I think he really enjoys learning about shapes and symmetry much more than what numbers.

Devon has had a great week. He's been hard at work all week!

Kyle has been very proud of his new sister. He's always so excited to tell everyone about her.

Bonnie did very well in reading class this week.

Serena has made tremendous progress sin all her classes! She's such a smart girl.

Irene is doing excellent. She's really opened up this year, and she's shown tremendous improvements in her language ability. Way to go, Irene!

Phil did great in phonics. He's also been talking more in class also. Good job!

Eason has been trying very hard to behave better in class. He's doing pretty good, too.

Benson is talking a little more in class. I just wish he would speak even more. I think if he could talk more, we would see his English ability improve much more.

February 12th

Hello and Happy Valentine's Day,
I hope everyone is having nice week. Now that everyone is back we're back to work. In math class we've begun studying about fractions and shapes. In reading we started book 4. It's a little more difficult than the 3 previous books but the stories are more interesting. I think the kids will really enjoy this book. This week we read "The Shopping List"; a funny story about a boy who goes to his father's store to get some food. He has a shopping list his mom gave him, and when he gets to the store he gets all the food and then forgets the last thing he needed to get . Everyone at the store helps him to try to remember, and it's not until the end when he remembers he needed to get his dad for dinner. In phonics we're still doing long vowels.

Aston has been doing much better recently in class. He seems to be trying harder in both math and phonics. He also seems much more interested in the new material we're studying now in math ( shapes and fractions ).

Albert has been doing great! His writing and scissor use has improved tremendously.

Devon was feeling a little sick on Friday. I hope he feels better soon.

Kyle has been very helpful this week. He's been teacher helper a few days this week; I think he enjoys the extra responsibilities in class, not to mention helping his classmates.

Bonnie and Serena have been helping Dora, a new student in the Kangaroo class. They have both been very sweet, and surprisingly the two of them have bonded quickly with her and have been very helpful helping her making her feel welcome at Tree House.

I'd also like to welcome back Phil, Eason, Irene, and Benson. We missed you when you were gone.

A New Semester

Hi everyone,
This week has been a quiet week at Tree House. The past semester went very well. All the kids had worked very hard over the past few months, and I think the months ahead will be just as productive. I'm really looking forward to seeing the kids progress, and think they should all excel this semester.

This week we reviewed addition and subtraction in math class. In phonics class we continued learning phonic blend sounds. In reading we re-read some stories from last semester, and finally in science class we talked about rockets and outer space. On Wednesday we went to the park and launched the rocket we made in class. It was a fun trip. Unfortunately the rocket didn't get off the ground very far.

Happy birthday to Bonnie. We had a nice birthday celebration for her on Thursday. If you see her this month, please wish her a happy birthday.

Welcome back Serena. We missed you at the beginning of the week.

Devon did very well in phonics class. He's starting to put blend sounds together, and has made tremendous progress!

Kyle was very well behaved this week. He's also been doing great in math class. His done especially well in addition and subtraction.

Aston has had a lot of fun learning about space and rockets in science class.

Albert has fallen far behind in math class. He has trouble understanding the difference between when to add or subtract. Even with assistance he still struggles to get the correct answers. I'm very worried that the class time he has missed has greatly effected his learning.
