October

Hi everyone,
October is finally here, and Halloween is just around the corner. It's always an exciting time at Tree House and all the kids are getting excited!
In class this week we learned about doubles in math class ( 2+2+=4, 4+4=8, 6+6=12, etc...).
In phonics we learned about vowel sounds in the middle of words. The kids had to look at pictures and write the middle vowel sound for each word.
In Tops we've been learning about -ing verbs ( What's he/she doing? He's/She's reading, walking, studying, etc...)
In reading we started the second book of the year with the story " A Big Fish for Max ". It's a cute story about a boy who goes fishing but catches EVERYTHING but a fish; so finally his mother takes him to a fish shop and they buy a fish to take home and cook for dinner.
In art class this week we made Jack-o-lanterns for Halloween...All in all it was another fun filled week in the Polar Bear class!

Irvin was so excited to share his song with the class on Friday. He was very brave to sing the song in the front of the class...after he sang it, we all practiced reading the lyrics and singing the song together.

Claire made a wonderful Jack-o-lantern in art class on Friday!

Albert is still struggling in math class. He was having trouble with basic addition. I know he can do it, I just hope he can concentrate a little more when he's doing addition.

Kyle is very good at math. He's always one of the first to finish his work, always eager to volunteer, and always correct with his answers!

Devon was funny on Friday night at Fun Day, he was trying archery but the bow was bigger than him, so he needed help to hold it so he could shoot the arrows.

Hanna's hand writing is very good. She's always very focused when she writes and her words are always very neat and clear.

Estella did great in class this week. She's very good at math, reading, and phonics. She had a lot of fun on Friday when we practice the song that Irvin brought in for the class...She was very competitive and wanted to sing better than the boys.

Rain has been improving his phonics. He's getting very good at recognizing vowel sounds and is getting better at writing and reading words from sounding them out.
