Hello Everyone

Hi Parents!

Welcome back from our mini-break! It was nice to have the week start on a Wednesday... almost everyone was sure that it was Monday!!!

This week in math class, we were graphing red and yellow circles. We counted the number of red circles and graphed the number of red circles in the chart. We did the same with the yellow circles as well. We did 4 activities together and 2 independently! All the girls knew exactly what to do, but the boys needed more instruction... In Phonics class, we are learning the letter 'Mm.' There are a lot of pages to complete in our book. We also learned many new vocabulary word. We are also practicing how to write our name.. printing, not tracing. We are learning -at and -an phonograms. It's a little difficult to teach them how to read because they just memorize the story. I want them to try to guess and recognize the beginning words, not just remembering what they memorized. They are learning the phonograms so quickly!!!

We also went to the park Thursday after naptime. It was so much fun, they did an outstanding job staying in line and keeping eyes on the teacher and traffic!!! On Saturday, we made some jello for our afternoon snack, played with some board games and read some books! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday at TreeHouse!!!

Happy Autumn Festival Day

Hi Everyone!!!

In Phonics, we finished the letter 'Hh.' The vocabulary word for the letter Hh are - house, heart, hose, hug, hammer, hat horse, hen, hay and hive. Most of them did well learning the new vocabulary words. On top of that, they did an amazing job printing the letter Hh.

Science is fun. We learned about living and non living things. On one part of the whiteboard, I drew pictures of living things. We talked about what living things were. Like, people, dogs, cats,.. etc.. things that move, things that eat, things that sleep and things that grow! We also learned about non living things, things that don't move, things that don't grow and things that don't eat! So, on the other side of the whiteboard, I drew pictures of non living things! I had everyone give me an example of a living thing and non living things!

We reviwed our Math test together, I sent those home in their school bags. We actually did the exercise/test twice. It was was not easy, it required a lot of their undivided attention! So, throughout the week, we reviewed in, on, over, middle, top, bottom, etc..

Crystal is doing a great job adjusting to the class! She is very cheerful and energetic at school. She is extremely sociable at school, she enjoys meeting new friends and playing with them. She is a fast learner, she has adapted very well into TreeHouse!

Rochelle is doing a great job as well. She is still a little bit shy to our school, but with the help of Crystal, she is adjusting well. She loves to be neat and clean!!! She still misses her mommy sometimes, but she knows that after lunch, nap, class, snack, class and then we get ready to go home!!! Rochelle is also very smart, she speaks a lot about her sister Charlene and her loving mommy all the time!

Albert loves girls!!! He loves Claire and Crystal. He thinks that Crystal is pretty, hehe. He loves to practice 'YOGA' during nap time, which can be bothersome sometimes, but he is usually quiet and doesn't bother anyone! I am very proud of him, he's able to do many things on his own now, comparing him while he was in 'koala class.' Thursday will be Albert's last day of school... he will be going to Arcadia, CA, where his mommy will deliver his new baby brother 'Timothy.' Albert is very excited about 'Timothy.'

Aston had a great week this week. He's been improving a lot. He still needs one-on-one time with me during playtime. He is able to follow directions when he wants to. He is capable of following multiple step instructions. Keep up the great work!!!

Devon had a good week! He is able to sit down and follow directions most of the time. His verbal skills has improved a lot, he speaks more and repeats everything he hears. He's able to use scissors, he still has a hard time cutting straight lines when we are making crafts.

Claire is wonderful in class. She loves to write, especially in her Phonics book. Claire is a very fast learner. She is great friends with Crystal, Rochelle, Hanna and Ruby! She also enjoys telling us stories about her baby sister 'Cynthia.'

Hanna is such a superstar! She is always volunteering to help everyone. Her verbal skills are amazing as well as her comprehension. She is also very energetic and excited about everything! She is amazingly cheerful in class, lifting everyone's spirits!

Leo has improved the most! He speaks a lot more after enrolling into Teacher Angel's afternoon class!!! He is able to express himself better! He speaks a lot more in class. Leo is also very helpful, he is always giving ideas and suggestions to his friends!!! Keep up the great work!

Ruby is doing an amazing job adjusting to the class. She is repeating a lot, she's always mimicking everyone. Ruby's pronunciation is great. She has very good social skills, she plays well with her new and old friends.

Happy Moon Cake Festival and have a wonderful holiday with your families,

Water parks, parks, new friends... and finally FRIDAY!

Hi Parents!

We had a wonderful week! First of all, we went to the park on Monday! We had a field trip to the 'Water Park' on Tuesday. We did lots of work for the following week. On top of that, we have two new penguins that joined our class. Their names are Crystal and Rochelle. Crystal and Rochelle are NOT sisters, but are just like sisters!!! They are BEST FRIENDS! I am very happy to have two new wonderful girls in penguin class.

In Phonics, we reviewed our s, t and b consonants. The exercises in our Phonics book required them to remember how to print the letters! Most of them could do it on their own, except for the letter 'Ss,' they still need more practice. Another exercises had them draw a line to match the letter under the picture to its partner letter.

Math was very challenging for all of us, especially me! This week, they did 3 different exercises. In an exercise, they had to circle all the red shapes. In the same set of exercise, they had to circle all the triangles. In a different activity, there were many different shapes and colors, they had to circle all the yellow squares. In the same set of exercises,, they had to circle all the blue circles. The last activity was the toughest~ using logical reasoning. For each exercise, they had to identify how the blocks/shapes are sorted and circle the blocks that follow the order. It took a lot of reasoning, why!!!!!!!!!! Many of the exercises just needed them to follow instructions clearly.

We had so much fun at the park on Monday. It wasn't too hot at the park, we had mosquito repellent and lots of water in our water bottles. Here are some pictures:

In reading class, we started our new story, 'Can Pig Nap?' I read the story to them and it was funny, everyone enjoyed the story! In the story. they had to practice using their phonics skills with letters c, n, p, short a, -an, -at, -ap.

The 'Water Park' was amazing. I had such a great time. All the penguins loved the water!!! Most of them went down on the BIG SLIDE with me (not knowing that it was scary), had a good time but was too scared to go on it again. Hanna and Claire was super brave on the slide, they actually went on the BIG SLIDE with me 2 times! Aston and Albert cried a little bit, but got over it quickly.

We did an art activity and brought it home! We made a paper bag puppet of a mouse! It took a little while. We had to cut circles and squiggly arms for the mouse. They did a great job, all of them.
Hanna had such a great time at the water park that she passed out the moment we got back to school! She is becoming more caring toward others, she was helping our new friend 'Rochelle' adjust to the new class by playing with her and keeping her company! Thank you Hanna, you are the greatest!!!

Claire had an awesome week! She also loved the water park!!! She was running around non-stop playing and splashing around. Her phonics skills has improved, so has her gross motor-skills, being able to print words. She had a very positive attitude. Claire never says bad things about others!!!
Leo is improving so much all around!!! He speaks non-stop. Sometimes too much, he likes to say bad and good things about people. I am trying to correct him, to be polite, not to say bad or mean things about people. Other than that, I see a lot of improvement. He is becoming more independent!

Albert had a great week. He loves Ruby too. He had so much fun at the water park that he got onto the BIG SLIDE with me and cried!!! It's okay Albert. He's doing an amazing job printing. He is a little hesitant about printing, so he prints very lightly. I am encouraging him to print a little bit harder/darker so that it's more visible because if he makes a mistake, he can always go back and correct it!

Aston is improving. He is not very familiar with the entire alphabet. In math class, he's not able to sit still and fully concentrate. But when class is over, I help him during playtime one-on-one, when I give him my full attention, he then gives me his full attention.

Devon had a great week. He speaks so much more. He had so much fun at the water park. Devon usually cries a lot, over small things. Like, when someone accidentally touches him or takes his toy. He doesn't know the difference from hitting and touching by accident!

Ruby is another rising star. She is a fast learner. She's great in class. She gets along well with everyone. I'm happy to see how well she is fitting into our class!!! She tries her best in class, keep up the great work!!!
Everyone misses Serena so much!!! Hope to see you soon...
Rochelle and Crystal, welcome to penguin class!!!

Have a great weekend, see everyone on Monday!

Friday rocks!

Hi Everyone!

Math is so much fun, always. We are learning how to sort things by color, size and shape. Classifying similar and different shapes, colors and sizes! It gets a little challenging but I think that everyone is trying hard!!! They actually need to follow instructions! Within the exercises, you need to either circle, color or mark an X on the item. Most of them are very good at following directions.
Phonics is also very exciting. We are learning the letter 'B.' Most of them can print upper and lower case 'Bb' on their own! It was not too difficult teaching them how to write the letter 'Bb.'
In Reading class, we reviewed 'I see red, blue, yellow.' We had a discussion about the story. The story is about a group of kids riding bikes and Mouse threw rocks onto the ground and ruined every one's bikes! Plus, we finished cutting out the high frequency and vocabulary words from our reading book. We were using the words to form sentences!
We are learning about Science!!! I love science, so do they!!! in Unit 1, we are learning about senses. The senses that we learned are - see, touch, smell, taste and hear.
Leo had a great time in the Philippines. He was so sweet to bring back gifts for everyone!!! Leo came back to TreeHouse with an awesome attitude. He tries his best to impress everyone at all times. On top of that, he's one of the first Penguins' to come to school... Keep up the amazing work!!! I am very proud of you.
Albert had a crazy week. His motor skills have improved so much. He's more willing to try new things. I am impressed with his verbal skills, he would tell me that his daddy shampoos his hair! I see a lot of positive reinforcement from home!!!
Aston has been a little more difficult during lunch. Otherwise, he is able to follow directions better. He's still having trouble recognizing numerals! Aston's verbal skills have improved a lot, he tries so much!
Devon was sick for a few days this week but he came back with a very positive attitude! He is following directions and commands better!
Hanna is being such a BIG SISTER! She continues to help Ruby with our daily routines. She is always trying to do more than I expect! She is such a superstar in class!!!
Claire is doing great in class! She is very helpful to Ruby. She loves Ruby. Claire is always volunteering in class. I am so happy to see so much self motivation from her!
Ruby is a fast learner! She gets along with all her classmates. Her motor skills are great - she can cut, color, print and basically do things on her own!!!
Everyone misses Serena! Hopefully she'll be back sooner than expected
