Mr. B's Badgers

We had a great week this week and make huge strides in reading. The students are able to read our story book, "I See Red, Yellow, Blue". They also learned about left and right in math class. In Science we learned about different animals, how they move and other ways they are different. In phonics we reviewed S and T and our new letter for the week was letter B.

Our reading words are: I, see, a blue, yellow, red, rock, Miss, Bear, Duck, Mouse, Cat, tire

Leetrue has done well this week. I am trying to help him with his pronuciation as he has trouble with the S sound.

August is keeping up but may fall behind if he is not careful and doesn't pay attention in class. Reviewing the phonics at home with him would be helpful for him.

Jason tried very hard this week. He continues to struggle with group lessons, but is improoving when I teach him one-on-one.

Ryan is great. He catches on with language very quickly and his outbursts are fewer in number.

I have noticed that Jae is developing a bad habbit of not sitting properly. I will remind her to sit properly at school, but it would be helpful if you see her sitting on her feet or knees at the table, to reming her to sit properly.

Christine has great social skills. She is a real people person. She does well to understand in class, but if you want to do review with her at home, ask her to read our reading words.

Teresa really enjoyed being the class leader this week and did an excellent job with it!

We did many exciting activities this week in class. In science class we are learning about what plants and animals need to live. We are also learning the parts of plants. So we made our own flowers to reinforce what we have learned. In math class we are learning how to identify where things are, ex. On the top/middle/bottom shelf. And in phonics we are learning about the letters "T" and "S". We learned how to deal with anger and what we should do if our friends get angry or if we get angry at our friends.

Jason is easily distracted in class and misses chances to learn because if I am talking to the class as a whole, he often focuses his attention on other things. I need to spend alot of one-on-one time with him just so he can keep up. However, he did really well in phonics this week and is begining to understand begining sounds.

Leetrue has a tendency to "tune out" the teacher, but he very much wants to please me and be a good boy. I'm trying to teach him how to ask for things he wants in a more positive way. For example, instead of crying that he doesn't have something, he should ask his friend if he can have a turn.
August is doing well. He loves to participate in out activites and the quality of his work is appropriate for his age. Keep it up August!

Ryan is a nice boy and he does everything asked of him without complaint. However, he does have a bad habit of making very loud noises both in and out of class which I am working to stop. He does not yet realize that not only does it annoy the teachers butit also annoys the older children. Fortunately, the children in our class are too young to get annoyed by loud noises. Ryan is also a little behind in his coloring, cutting skills and writing skills. I am working hard with him and he should be caught up in no time.
Christine gets her work done quickly and with quality. She does however contrtribute to some of the anarchy that sometimes happens in the class, she is smart enough though to keep her expliots to a minimum so as not to attract too much attention from me, but I still see what she does. This behavior is apropriate for her age and I will correct her and make her understand why she is disruptive. Over all she is a very godo student.
Jae is doing great. She has good coordination and good writing skills since she is a bit older than the others. She still has a bad habit of interupting other peoples' conversation, but I will keep telling her to wait until we/they are finished talking.
Theresa is doing wonderfully she is very sharp and pays close attention in class. She is rarely distracted by her friends and is therefore a good example to the rest of the students.

Hello Parents

My first week with The Badgers was great! I spent lots of time getting to know the kids and earning their respect. They have quickly accepted me as their teacher and they are very fun to teach. This week as you know they went to the museum to visit the Pixar exhibit. You can ask them about what they saw there and what they liked. In phonics class we focused on the letter S and words that begin with that letter. In math class I made three dimensional objects they would have to try and imitate. It was a challenge for them and I will do other similar activities with them in the future. We read a book called, "Don't say that" and learned why it is better to use words to tell someone you don't like what they said and that it is not okay to hit someone. I renamed the class "The Badgers" and teach the children a little about this interesting animal. You can ask them what they remember about badgers.

Leetrue: Practice your pronunciation of the letter as and words with that letter in it. Practice using scissors and pencils.Practice writing the letter S

Ryan: You have been very brave this week. You will soon have so many new friends. Practive writing the letter S and using scissors.

August: Great work this week, try and follow the students that are well behaved instead of the ones that are misbehaving and you will continue to grow in all areas. Practice writing the letter S.

Jason: Review you phonics, especially beginning sounds. I will help you catch up. Practice writing the letter S.

Christine: Do not be afraid to fail. I will never get upset if you try. Practice writing the letter S.

Jae: Pracice writing the letter S. Try not to get distracted when doing your work. You could be able to finish more quickly and have more time to use the phonics computer.

Theresa: I hope you feel better soon. The Badgers miss you. :)

Welcome back !

Dear Parents,
This week, I, Teacher Jason had the pleasure of covering all the wolfpack classes activities and lessons. I must say that it was a pleasure getting to work with Christine, Leetrue, Jason, August, Theresa, and Jae.

We covered a lot in the first week, which seemed to be not a problem for any of the students even with the new additionis of basic math and phonics into their curriculum. We also went over different kinds of shapes and as you can see above, made father's day cards!

Next week the new Wolf Pack Teacher Brendon will be arriving at treehouse so please welcome and address any questions to him, as I am sure he is more then happy to give answers and address any concerns that may arise.

Well, Hope everyone has a Happy Father's Day!

Individual comments:

Jae- Her reading comprehension is great and I can tell she loves to learn new things through reading and dancing!

Christine- Very artistic individual, she is always very jubilant and keeps her classmates in a positive atmosphere.

Leetrue- Did incredibly well with the new shapes and animals that we covered and I can already tell that he can become very passionate with topics in class once he finds interest in it.

Jason- Always a pleasure working with him, he is always eager to make the teacher happy and to learn alongside his classmates!

August- Shy at first when it came to answering in class, but he clearly understands the material and is great to work with!

Theresa- One of the best behaved in the class, I never had to repeat myself with her and she always gave a helping hand, when needed.

Again, it was great working with your children this week and I cant wait to see how they grow over this coming school year!

-Teacher Jason
