Dear Parents,

This week was a very productive one for the Wolf pack. We've been focusing on Phonics lately and they have done very well with the crash course. I have been doing a number of activities to reinforce the themes taught. We have also been doing a lot of hands on activities in Math class as well. We are studying patterns and this is a good time to bust out the blocks and have the kids create their own patterns. We've also been doing exercise in the morning in class to get the kids ready for the day and to feel awake and focused on learning. We will be making lanterns in arts and crafts class to prepare for Moon Festival.

Individual Comments:

Hank: He's very outgoing with his friends in the class and I can see him reaching out more than when he first got here. Great in class performance as well.

Patrick: He's continuing to show me good things in many different areas of learning, the main one being his willingness to speak out and engage his friends.

Marcus: There have been less crying incidents lately which is good to see and if there is a problem he comes to me and we work through it.

Adam: He was a little naughty this week so I had to discipline him a couple of times to remind him on appropriate behavior during class time.

Ethan: He thinks nap time is talk time now for some reason and he got into trouble because of it but he's doing very well with his studies.

Terry: He's quite outgoing and ready to learn. I can see he's trying to make sure his friends are having a good time as well.

Emily: She has been in great spirits lately and I love coming in and seeing a smile on her face. I hope she can continue to be this positive and happy.

Paige: She spoke out a lot this week and I'm not to sure why she goes through these phases where one week she'll be great and the next week I won't be able to get her to say a word.

I hope all of you will have a good weekend. I will be taking the family to Danshui this weekend to watch Teacher Andy and his band battle for top prize at this year's battle of the bands. I will see all of you back in the classroom Monday morning.

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a hot this week has been! I don't remember a time after a typhoon that it has been this hot, and dry! I hope all of you are doing what you can to stay cool and comfortable.

We covered quite a bit in class though. We did quite a bit of phonics and played some games surrounding the lessons and all of the students really enjoyed that. In math we did some pattern activities and some of the workbook pages that accompanied the lesson as well. We also had a P.E. class on Thursday that all of the kids really seemed to enjoy. We did some physical training exercises, some relay races and an obstacle course. Needless to say all of them slept very well at nap time! Arts and Crafts class was a big success and we are continuing our Fall themes.

Individual Comments:

Marcus: He's speaking out a lot and getting very confident in most areas of his learning progression. He's right on track and doing great!

Adam: As far as his in class performance is concerned I am very happy to report all good things! He is giving 100% and really seems to be enjoying what he is doing.

Ethan: He has been sick lately and I hope he starts to feel better soon! He's doing better with his confidence level and I will be continuing to monitor that.

Hank: It's good to have him back in class! He is such a positive light in the class and a good role model for some of the younger students to look up to.

Patrick: He's really starting to shine in all areas of learning! And I can see his willingness to speak out and his confidence levels are also emerging very nicely as well.

Terry: He has been very outgoing and really seems to enjoy his time in class. He has made friends with all of the students in the class as well. Great job Terry!

Paige: She sometimes will speak a lot and other times not so much. I would love to see her speak out all the time. She's a great student though and I'm glad she's doing well in most areas.

Emily: I will keep you posted regularly outside of Jian An. I enjoy our conversations, it's great to have contact with parents on a regular basis.

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend and stays cool. Should be another scorcher!

Dear Parents,

As you are probably aware this week is the pot luck open house. I invite all of you to come and bring in your favorite home cooked meal. This should be a good time to connect and to get to know each other a little better and to get an idea of exactly what it is I do in the classroom.

In class we covered some reading material and practiced some sight word recognition work. We did a few pages out of the Phonics book and I also took that opportunity to do some writing practice with the kids. There will be an arts and crafts activity on Friday as well as some pages out of the math book. We are still working on living things in science class and we are putting together a poster different kinds of living things. we are covering family in Social Studies.

Individual Comments:

Adam: Very positive attitude and he did very well interacting with the other students in the class. Great job this week.

Ethan:
He's getting better with directions and I am starting to slowly see a confidence boost in him, I will continue to monitor that progress.

Patrick:
He's turning into one of the more outgoing students in the class and he is really speaking out a lot and engaging the other students to talk and to play.

Marcus:
I really hope Marcus can develop more of a sense of confidence. He is easily shaken and it is also easy for him to get upset. He did very good work all week though.

Hank:
I really hope he starts to feel better soon we miss his sense of humor in the class. Come back soon Hank.

Paige:
I can really see a change in Paige just in the short time I have worked with her. She's more confident and very willing to participate and to speak out. Keep up the good work.

Emily:
I can see Emily has a very good work ethic and she's quite an organized little girl isn't she? She's been smiling more which is something I really enjoy seeing.

I hope to see all of you Friday night so we can connect and discuss all of your wishes and concerns. Have a great weekend everyone and try not to let the typhoon from discouraging you to get out there and do something fun.

Dear Parents,

This week was the first week of September and all of the students were back in the class. I took this opportunity to really get to know all of them better and to figure out what the class dynamics are going to be for the year. They all are very good and they all seem to know how to interact with each other and how to respond to teacher's direction.

In class this week we covered all of the major subjects and they worked on them with flying colors! In Reading we did the first story from the little readers and although they aren't quite able to read the story, I have no doubt that in time they will be able to do very well with it. We covered living and non-living things in Science class and I could see that they all were able to grasp the concept and had no difficulty with the workbook pages as well. In Social Studies we learned about our school and the different things that are in school and about school. Math class this week we covered position and location and did the workbook pages that went with the lesson. We've also got a new song that we are learning and they are having fun sing and dancing to it. Phonics class, we did the short (s) sound.

Individual comments:

Marcus: I'm hoping he can build his confidence when interacting with his friends. His in class performance is great!.

Ethan: It's what we talked about this week and I'll be keeping an eye out for signs of improvement.

Adam: Perfect participation and has a wonderful in class attitude.

Terry: When he's in class he has a great attitude and comes ready to learn. I would like to see him come out of his shell a bit more.

Hank: Great job this week! He's doing just fine in his new environment.

Paige: She's speaking more and really starting to be more outgoing. She's really laughing a lot as well.

Emily: I hope she starts to feel better soon.

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend and I'll see all of you bright and early Monday morning.
